For over 20 years the Y has offered quality child care for children before and after school during scheduled school breaks. Our Child Care programs are centered on our core values – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility – and include a healthy program structure of:

  • 45 minute of daily exercise
  • Art, games, reading & science activities
  • Healthy snacks and nutritional learning
  • Community giving and charity
  • Out trips and local exploration
  • Lessons in sharing and healthy relationships

Before School Gr K – 6
6:30 – 8:30am, $25.50/week or $5.10/day
Located at the Kelowna Family Y.  The Y Van drops children off at the following schools: Pearson, Belgo, Rutland, South Rutland, Quigley Elementary, and Black Mountain Elementary.

After School Care Gr K – 6
2:30 – 6 pm, $71.50/week (includes early dismissals) or $14.30/day.
Program Centres include:

  • Belgo Elementary, 125 Adventure Rd
  • Black Mountain Elementary,  1650 Gallagher Rd
  • Quigley Elementary, 705 Kitch Rd. We provide part time, full time and drop-in based on availability. We pick up children from the following elementary schools: Ellison, Pearson, Rutland and South Rutland and provide care at Quigley Elementary.

Summer Day Camps

For school age children going into Grade 1 to Grade 6

Join us this summer for our weekly theme camps! Children will participate in a variety of activities including; group games, sports, science projects, arts and crafts, drama, nature studies, hikes, swimming, out trips to local beaches and water parks, and so much more…

*All our day camps our provincially licensed

$175 per week

Registration for individual part time days will open up one week prior to each camp starting; provided we have space available.

You must include a colour photo (face shot, 2×3″ of your child and a copy of your child’s immunization * required

Step 3

Bring your completed registration and payment forms to the Kelowna Family YMCA * please note incomplete forms will not be accepted.

Step 4: Payments

We require full payment for one week bookings, if you are booking multiple weeks we require a deposit of $100 plus banking information (void chq or visa or master card) the remainder of your fees will be scheduled on the 20th of the prior month.

Please note if you are applying for government subsidy and or YMCA Financial Assistance this must be approved and in place at the time of registration; otherwise the full fee will be required to secure your space.

Refund Policy

In the event you need to cancel your Summer Day Camp

  • Cancellation notice must be submitted in writing and/or email to sboser@ymcaokanagan.ca
  • Cancellations received 7 days or more prior to start of camp will receive a refund less a $25.00 administration fee.

No cancellations will be given for less than 7 days or for any sick or missed days.

July 8-12 “Going Green”—recycled art, garden lanterns, hiking in the forest

July 15-19 “Top Hats & Acrobats”—yoga, circus carnival, drama

July 22-26 “Get Up & Get Moving”—Zumba®, sports, dance

July 29-Aug 2 “Space is the Place”—paper mache planets, rocket ships and moon walking

Aug 6-9 “Call of the Wild”—kangaroo farms, wilderness safety, ant farms

Aug 12-16 “Great out Doors”—Eco Center, bug collecting, fishing pond

Aug 19-23 “Talent Show”—talent show, minute to win it, moving and grooving

We believe no family should be turned away from quality child care because of an inability to pay.

BC Child Care Subsidy
As a parent, you may apply to the Ministry of Children and Family Development (Child Care Subsidy Centre) to see if you are eligible for assistance with your child care fees. The subsidy, determined through an application process and depending on your financial circumstances. As an enrolling parent, it is your responsibility to ensure that you apply for subsidy as the YMCA cannot apply for this subsidy on your behalf. Full payment of the child care fee will be required until we are notified by the Child Care Subsidy Centre of your subsidy approval and you must pay any outstanding balance not covered by the subsidy to the YMCA.
