Mayor Colin Basran has officially proclaimed May 7, 2017 as Healthy Kids Day — a day where the YMCA of Okanagan, with the support of presenting sponsor Interior Savings Credit Union, will go loud for kid’s health in a festival-like setting. For our Mayor, creating a community of healthy, active kids is a key priority.
The YMCA of Okanagan will be assuming operations of the Kelowna Secondary School’s Young Parents Program effective May 15, 2017. Through a partnership between Central Okanagan Public Schools and the YMCA of Okanagan, this program enables young parents to continue their educational studies through to graduation. Young parents return to school in as little as six to eight weeks after giving birth, making the need for a safe and quality child care necessary.
With a common goal of creating a healthy, strong generation of children, the YMCA of Okanagan is pleased to partner with Interior Savings Credit Union to make the 12th annual YMCA Healthy Kids Day possible. This free-to-all event, being held on Sunday, May 7 inside and outside the Kelowna Family YMCA, will host dozens of local organizations looking to engage children of all ages in free, active play in a festival-like setting.
