Kelowna’s two-time Olympic Medalist Kelsey Serwa, Olympic Biathlete Julia Ransom and local philanthropist Thomas Budd are all geared up to support the YMCA’s 12th Annual Cycle for Strong Kids charity event. The Y’s largest fundraiser of the year, which promises to raise both funds and heart rates with a series of 45-minute stationary cycle classes, will take place on Sunday, May 27, 2018, under a big tent outside the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre.

YMCA’s Cycle for Strong Kids brings together caring members and businesses from the community to help build a brighter future for underprivileged children. One hundred per cent of the funds raised will give vulnerable kids living in the Okanagan equal opportunity to participate in YMCA programs such as child care, day camps, aquatics, employment readiness and before and after school enrichment programs.

“We are so grateful to the 350 riders who are making it possible for the Y to continue offering life-changing programs that address our communities most pressing issues – including inactivity, isolation and poverty,” says Margo Buckley, Y Fund Development Officer. “More than a quarter of the kids who take part at the Y are only able to do so because of the financial assistance provided by our generous donors.”

This year’s goal is to raise over $100,000 as the urgent needs in our community continue to grow. To make a difference in the life of a child, please visit ymcaokanagan.ca/cycle to register or donate.
