Interior Savings Community Fund donates to YMCA of Okanagan

As a co-operative, Interior Savings believes that collaboration is key to building healthy communities, which is why the local credit union generously donated $17,521 through their Community Investment Fund to purchase speciality equipment for the YMCA that typically isn’t found in a main-stream fitness centre.

“This enables the YMCA to serve new participants, the majority being seniors, who need adaptable equipment to overcome their mobility restrictions and health issues,” says Adriane Long, YMCA Health Promotions Supervisor. “We have seen a significant increase in the number of people attending our Health Promotions programs at the Kelowna Family YMCA and they are benefitting from the donated leg press and NuStep recumbent cross trainer to perform their exercises.”

“This investment in our local Y is a great alignment of values and harnessing of local money for local good,” says Kathy Conway, CEO of Interior Savings. “We’re pleased to partner with the YMCA of Okanagan to support an initiative that is inclusive and encourages older adults to stay active and connected to their community.”
