Cycle For Strong Kids YMCA of Okanagan Fundraiser

The 13th Annual Cycle for Strong Kids takes place this Sunday, May 26, outside H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre from 8 a.m.- noon, bringing together hundreds of community members to raise funds and heart rates through a fun outdoor cycle class.

The YMCA of Okanagan event features a silent auction, raffle, and outdoor cycle class for pre-registered riders with a goal of raising $100,000 for local impoverished families.

“This event ensures children from all income levels have equal access to programs that set them up for success,” says Rhonda Zakala, VP of Marketing and Fund Development for the YMCA of Okanagan. “Currently one in five children are in need of donor funding to access YMCA programming and in our child care programs, the number is one in three. With a high number of families in the Central Okanagan living in poverty, the generosity of event sponsors and participants is critical in strengthening future generations.”

A full 100% of donations will subsidize Y child care, spring and summer camps, swim lessons, health memberships, and recreational and sport programs for those struggling to afford them for their children. The Strong Kids campaign also allows the Y to provide mental wellness programs, youth employment programs, the Young Parents Program and Beyond the Bell free to at-risk children and youth.

YMCA Cycle for Strong Kids is co-presented by sponsors Fresh Air and Delcourt Advisory Group at Scotia Wealth Management.
