Our pools are reopening soon and we cannot wait to make a splash with you and your family this summer.

  • Please limit your swim time to 1 hour per visit to ensure everyone has a chance to access this service.
  • Come ready with your swimsuit on to limit your time in the changerooms.
  • You must shower with soap and water before entering the pool.
  • The use of goggles is encouraged (as per the Lifesaving Society’s guidelines).
  • Due to COVID-19 concerns there will be no use of facility equipment available (Ex: Kickboards, Dumbbells, Pull Buoys, Waterpark Mats etc.).
  • If possible, shower at home after swimming or limit your shower time to reduce traffic in the change rooms.
  • There will be no seating available for viewing in the facility, all family members must come to swim. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate those who just want to watch at this time.
  • Water fountains on the pool deck will not be available at this time. Our facilities do have water bottle refill stations in other areas where you can refill your water bottle if needed.
  • The hot tub and sauna will remain closed for the time being.
  • We recommend bringing personal PFD if possible. We will have some available that will be sanitized between use but that will limit what we have on hand.
  • Capacity limits: 50 people maximum within the entire Kelowna Family Y pool and 66 people maximum at the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre; 1 swimmer per lane (no exceptions) for lane swimming. Each pool will have a max capacity limits assigned. Please look for and follow these capacity limits when utilizing YMCA and H2O aquatic facilities.
  • All lane swimmers are asked to abide by our 1 swimmer per lane rule (no exceptions) and to swim in the middle of the lane to ensure proper physical distancing (2m distance).
  • If pools are at max capacity, you will be asked to wait in line prior to entering.
  • Please follow the traffic flow map for your YMCA or H2O pools (PDF on schedules page) to help you maintain a healthy physical distance while entering and exiting the pool deck.
  • We ask that all aquafit class participants please exit the pool deck once the class is over to limit their daily pool time limit to 1-hour to ensure everyone has a chance to access this valuable service.

Pool hours

(Starting August 10) Our open swim times, lane swimming and aquatic fitness classes will vary in times. There will be periods of time daily where these services are not available to members and the public. Please refer to our facility pool schedules and the questions in this FAQ below for these details.

Yes! We will have designated times for open swim time at both the Kelowna Family YMCA and H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre. Check the pool schedules to see what times are available at each centre.

This will be open to both members and the public. At this time, we are not requiring registered time slots for open swim time. Our pools will be limited to a maximum capacity of 50 people at one time at the Kelowna Family Y and 66 people at H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre, so if our pools are full, members (and non-members) will be asked to wait prior to entering. No kids toys or swim equipment will be provided at this time, and goggles are recommended.

Yes! We will have limited lane swimming available at the Kelowna Family YMCA and H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre. This will be open to both members and the public. Members will be required to register online to secure a 1-hour time slot for lane swimming. Lane swimming for the public, is first come first serve and will be based on pool and lane capacities. 

Check the pool schedules to see when lane swimming is available at each centre.

Registration is now open (as of August 3). To help prepare you to register for lane swimming online you will first need to sign up for your online account (if you do not already have an online account for fitness class registration). Registration will always open one week in advance of the class. 

Goggles are recommended for all lane swimming and no swim equipment will be provided at this time. Please bring your own equipment and swim aids if you require them. As well, we are asking all lane swimmers to limit their swim to 1-hour time slots 2-3 times per week to allow everyone a chance to access this service.

Please note that we will have 1 lane designated for those who require the ability lift or stairs and ask that only those with mobility issues reserve shallow lane 1 at the Kelowna Family Y and shallow lane 8 at the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre.

Yes. We will be offering aquatic fitness classes once our pools reopen. Our aqua class will be found on our group fitness and pool schedules as well as through our online registration system starting August 3.

We ask that you please arrive 15 minutes early for your class and that you come prepared in your swim suit to limit your time in the change room. As well, we ask that you shower with soap and water prior to entering the pool deck and also that you please exit the pool deck after your class, as we are requesting that all members limit their daily pool time to 1-hour to ensure everyone has an opportunity to access the pools.

At Kelowna Family Y, you will be directed to line up 2 meters apart near the deep pool (deep aqua classes) and main pool (for shallow aqua classes) once you arrive on the pool deck.

At H2O Adventure + Fitness centre please check in on the ramp up to the upper deck for deep aqua classes and on the lower deck near the Flow Rider for shallow aqua classes.

We do not have a firm date for restarting swim lessons, however we hope to bring them back in the fall. Our aquatics teams are currently assessing recommendations and COVID-19 safety protocols for instruction. We will provide more information to our members as soon as possible.

Yes! Our summer day campers will have both land and water activities mixed into their day after August 10 which will add a little extra fun and variety in our summer camp programming.

Due to capacity and physical distancing requirements, these areas will remain closed at this time. Stay tuned for updates on the opening of these spaces.

Yes. We will be reopening our pool changerooms at the Kelowna Family Y and H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre as of August 10, including showers and lockers (though some lockers will remain temporarily closed to ensure proper physical distancing between members and guests). We do recommend that our members and guests accessing the pools please come ready in their swim gear to limit the amount of time spent in the change room.

Everyone will be required to shower with soap and water prior to entering the pool deck.

Aquafit participants at the Kelowna Family Y will need to use the men’s and ladies changerooms as the family change rooms will be closed for day camp use during these times.
