At the YMCA, we don't know the meaning of the word "bored". Kids love participating in all our activities—like swimming, art, crafts, dance, games, and science experiments—so much that they don't want to go home. There's something fun for everyone.

Active Arts

Each week in this program we will explore age-appropriate sensory stations, crafts, music, stories as well as take a dip in the pool! We will practice turn-taking, sharing and good listening skills — among other social skills — allowing children to learn, play and develop healthy, happy bodies and minds. Join our enthusiastic Y leaders for some blood-pumping, high-energy action after school in this popular program! We want to keep children moving by using gym challenges and game favourites to encourage physical activity in a fun and engaging way. Weekly registration required. Babysittng Course

This course teaches youth basic first aid and caregiving skills to become effective, confident babysitters. Participants learn how to care for younger children in a variety of age groups, how to prevent and respond to emergencies and learn about appropriate activities and nutrition for children in their care. Future Leaders

Making an impact starts here. Our Future Leaders program will help teens get to know themselves better while learning fundamental leadership skills and making new friends in a fun, inclusive environment. Girls Unite

We want all girls to embrace their unique qualities and shine bright like a star! Have your girl join our inspiring leaders to participate in activities designed to celebrate, encourage and empower girls as well as build strong friendships and happy, healthy bodies. Home Alone and Prepared

This course prepares children for the responsibilities of looking after themselves alone at home for short periods of time. Hands-on activities and group interactive learning cover the basics of first aid, responding to emergencies, kitchen safety, internet safety, stranger danger awareness and fire safety skills. Jr. NBA

For parents of young players there is one guiding principle: If you want your young player to develop a love for basketball, he or she must first develop a passion for the game. Junior Tennis

Junior Tennis introduces your child to the game of tennis through a combination of instruction and play. Classes start with warm-up and skill development and end with a friendly round robin. JKA Shotokan Karate

The Kelowna Family Y is proud to now offer belt progression and traditional Shotokan methods of training recognized by the Japan Karate Association (JKA) of British Columbia. Belt testing fees are not included in registration fees and are paid directly to the JKA. You may only register for one time slot per week. Sessional registration required.

Let's Dance

Does your child want to develop their dance skills? Our qualified instructor will teach an energetic, fun and modern dance incorporating a variety of styles. Parent and Tot Play Time

Parent and Tot Play Time is a great opportunity for your toddler or preschooler to socialize and play! Your child can explore various climbing apparatuses, sports equipment and other toys. It's also the perfect time to meet other parents. Please note: your child MUST be supervised at all times.
