Wear because you care!

Masks now required at your YMCA

At the YMCA, the safety of our members, staff, volunteers and our entire community is our greatest priority.

Our Provincial Health Officer has announced, on November 19, 2020, that non-medical masks are now required in all indoor public spaces, as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in BC. Therefore, masks must now be worn by all staff, members, participants and visitors while attending YMCA of Okanagan Health, Fitness and Aquatics branches and programs, unless you are actively engaging in physical activity. There are exceptions for children 12 years and under, and for those who have diverse abilities or medical conditions that prevent wearing a mask.

At all times, and particularly when actively engaging in physical activity, everyone should make best efforts to maintain physical distancing of 2 metres (six feet).

If you remove your mask in order to perform physical activity or enter the pool, please ensure it is properly stored (e.g. in a bag or in your pocket) and do not hang masks on equipment or place them on shared surfaces.

You should bring your own mask with you when you come to the Health, Aquatic and Fitness Branches of the YMCA. We will have disposable, non-medical masks available for a limited time (a $2 fee will apply as of Dec 1).

If you have a condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, please notify a member of our staff team.

Thank you for helping to keep our communities safe.

We want to make sure our members are as safe as possible while exercising. We have contacted the Provincial Health Office and confirmed at this time, that masks are not required for those actively engaging in physical activity. It is a personal choice for a member to wear a mask while exercising.

Yes. Staff are required to wear masks at all times, including behind plexiglass barriers.
