Our charity is responding to COVID-19 including temporarily closing all YMCA recreation facilities during this time. Child care, virtual early years community services and career development services will continue to run. The most recent information can be found at ymcaokanagan.ca/COVID19

At the YMCA of Okanagan we are committed to ensuring our community is water-safe and we need passionate people to help us achieve this goal. If you want to develop leadership skills and make a profound impact on a child’s life by providing them vital water safety education, we want to hear from you.

Lifeguarding is not only one of the most impactful roles you can have, it is also a lot of fun! Where else can you come to work in shorts and flip flops? Whether you are looking for a great work environment, to take on a new challenge or build friendships that can last a lifetime, you will never regret becoming a lifeguard.

In addition, lifeguards and instructors are in high demand. Choosing a job in aquatic recreation is a rewarding investment with year-round opportunities throughout the country. It is a job that can transition with you wherever life takes you. Aquatic courses can be used for high school credits, and they can even help pay your way through university!

Whether you are already a certified lifeguard, or you are simply starting out, there are opportunities for you at the Y.

As a local charity, the YMCA of Okanagan is devoted to ensuring all programs and services are accessible to the community. The Y offers financial assistance for swim lessons to ensure families can afford this important life skill for their children, and each year every third-grade student in our local community is provided critical water safety skills for free thanks to generous donors and volunteers.

Help us make a difference. Join our team.
